Sam Thomas began his love of art at an early age, spending countless hours drawing and building his own imaginative worlds. Born in Denver, he would continue to grow up in Colorado, having graduated high school in the small mountain town of Estes Park in 2004. An immediate fan of art, he would often write out short stories to accompany the various illustrations and drawings he created. He would continue to dive deeper into art and the surreal and bizarre would become his mainstays in art, often creating ethereal, other-worldly scapes.

After Sam moved to Alaska, his influences broadened and he became heavily partial to the Impressionists of the 19th century and began creating a series of heavily stylized, Victorian-influenced paintings with contemporary-surrealist leanings. Sam has had a connection with history and this influence is evident in much of his work, being a keen observer of the aesthetics and idiosyncracies of particular eras. Currently, he has been operating in the realm of digital art, practicing and exploring such programs as Adobe Illustrator and Corel Painter.

Sam's work has been shown at the International Gallery of Contemporary Art through various group, public-oriented shows. He has also had works shown in the Student Union Gallery on the University of Alaska-Anchorage campus. In early 2016, Sam was one of a few event organizers of the Light Brigade's art installation, "Transforming Adults Only", where he assisted with everything from promotion, logistics and schematics, and community mapping. He graduated from the University of Alaska-Anchorage with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2017.
